LEGALITY OF ONLINE GAMBLING IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES

Internet gambling is a growing industry. The legality of online gambling is a complicated issue, as it depends on the player's location. In our country Malaysia, all forms of sports betting are against our country law except horse racing. Placing wagers on horse races is allowed only on certain tracks and is strictly regulated by the Malaysian Racing Association. In the other hand, Malaysia is prohibiting with the online gambling and there are no legal Malaysian sportsbooks or bookmakers operated in our country. The government does not give the licenses to open internet gambling sites in the country. Recently, Ascot Sports Sdn Bhd submit a proposals to the government to issue out the football betting license but this proposals was reject by the government after Umno supreme council meeting. Besides that, the proposal is also been cancelled due to huge objection by opposition political parties and our country residents. It is because they want to avoid losing tax revenue of over $1 billion every year. However, there are still a lot of underground and black market sports betting in our country. Even though, Malaysia government restrict online gambling in country but Malaysian players still can access to the foreign internet gambling sites. This is the most difficulties issue for the Malaysia government to solve the annoyance problem.
